| Few misc. questions on open-site |
|
|
First, my apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum for these questions/comments, but this appears to be the "right" place.
I'm wandering over here from ODP thanx mostly due to efforts/encouragement from icurite and lafiaguy who seem pretty persuasive. So I've spent a little bit of time browing stuff and looks interesting. My questions/comments.
1. Is it just me, or is www.open-site.org pretty dang slow ... it seems to take 5-10 seconds (or more) to browse through the categories. I've noticed this for the last few days, so probably not transient, just curious what the scoop is. BTW, the forums are noticeable snappier.
2. I noticed "copyright 2002" as the footer - you guys probably want to change this to 2002-2004.
3. I see the "Hosted by JVDS.com" on the footer's - just curious what the relationship is with those guys?
4. So I thought about submitting some of my yummy BBQ Recipes - pls see http://www.komar.org/bbq/bbq_grill_recipes/ - would this be appropriate content for open-site and if so, it looks like it would be placed somewhere under Home/Cooking/Recipes ... but I don't see a seperate BBQ category ... or I could just put under "B" for BBQ or "S" for Shrimp.
I'm considering applying to be an editor, but am waiting for see ALL of 101 reasons from icurite
Thanx,
alek
P.S. I made both the sweet and spicy BBQ Shrimp listed at the above URL two days for the bazillionenth time and I can still highly recommend it - it's actually slightly easier/better doing a stir-fry.

| Submitted BBQ Shrimp Recipes to Home/Cooking/Recipes ... |
|

OK - I did a submission to Home/Cooking/Recipes as recommended by icurite
I was going to just submit as one, but thought that it might be confusing have "sweet and spicy", so I made 'em seperate - feel free to combine if you want. A few feedback comments if you guys are interested:
1. I selected "Recipes" for Type of Item (this was pretty clear). At the bottom of this screen (and subsequent others), I saw the copyright 2002 I was talking about originally.
2. The screen that pops up has all sort of stuff like fat/cholesterol/sodium/etc. A good idea, but at least in my case, I have no idea what these are - I just know these shrimp are darn good tasting! I'm assuming that these are optional categories (I didn't see 'em elsewhere) so you might mention that.
3. There is a "Picture" box, and I wasn't sure what you want there, so I just stuffed the URL from my website for lack of better things. I don't know how this is used - should I provide a link to a JPEG so you can upload to your server and reference that way?
4. I know you say "optional" on the Email address ... but consistant with what I wrote above, you might tell me what you want this for - I assume it's to let me know how my submission went (?)
5. I basically just cut-n-pasted the recipe from my web site, which I think is relatively hype-free ... again, edit as you see fit.
Hope that's helpful feedback and pls let me know publically or privately how the submission is. If it was really bad (or good), you can suggest I apply to be the editor of Home/Cooking/Recipes so I have to format/clean-up my own submission!
alek
P.S. I am still thinking about editing in OEP and I appreciate the Arts/Comics/Titles/Hulk/ suggestion by lafiaguy - most appropriate for The Hulkster Related Category: |

1. I have contacted mjflick about this. Thank you.
2. If unsure about a field, you may leave it out.
3. The picture field is for editors to insert the URL of a picture they have uploaded to OEP. Unfortunately, the upload picture tool doesn't currently work.
4. You may place your email address in the submission, but it will not be published and we typically will not reply regarding your submission. Your email address, if provided, will be deleted once the submission is published.
5. Only submit if the content is copyright-free or you have permission to use the copyright. Since it is from your website, it might be a good idea to state that you have copyright permission in a submission and from whom, even be it yourself.
6. Your submission seemed fine and it will be published soon. Thank you for your contribution. If you'd like to be editor of the category, feel free to apply. You will really enjoy the editing tools and the experience, I promise!
Sorry for taking a while to reply but I've had other things on my mind. Thank you for your patience.Related Category: _________________ Poroporoaki from Mike in the Mighty Waikato |
