Here's a little fun culture question: is it OK to clap at yourself?
A popular trend on American television programs is for people to clap at themselves. Here in New Zealand such proud behaviour shows someone to be over-confident, over-proud, bold and a bit too self-obsessed: "up themselves" as it is colloquially described.
However, as an example of the influence of American media on New Zealand culture, it is becoming increasingly common, although the normal practice is still to let others congradulate you.
This is a bit of a cultural question. It relates to the culture you've been brought up in and the cultural factors that have influenced you during your upbringing. It also asks a bit of your personal values and perspectives.
So is it OK to clap at yourself?Related Category:Society/

Yeah - that's the reason why clapping at yourself can have negative connotations. But, that said, it's all a matter of culture. There are some aspects of one culture that other cultures would think differently about, and this is one of those things.Related Category:

Icurite i can only imagine you mean people on game shows and the like.As i cant say ive seen any UK sport stars clapping themselves. Related Category:
