| New Language System + Front Pages |
|
|
Hi, on the editors forum was a discussion about having Front pages and a slightly different system for the International sections and the Kids section.
Front pages for international languages will be based on the English one created by lufiaguy [is rather cool], most of them will having a sort of different area on the right because most languages aren't having active editors. I suggest a image of the day feeded by active editors of English or for more active languages a factbox feeded by more than 300 facts with a random generator.
The question is for having those front pages apart from the current OS-system (just like http://dmoz.ro ) or integrate them in the system on a domain like http://ro.open-site.org/Komputere instead of http://open-site.org/International/Romana/Komputere ) I like the last option (ro.open-site.org), because this is more efficient to our public, more equal for the languages and it's much cheaper than 400 domains for all languages.
Beside of the languages we also give more important top categories like Kids their own kids.open-site.org subdomain. On this way our children can find information on an easy to type domain and our friends around the world just have one simple address to find their info for.
For an example how it could look like I'd like to point you to http://members.lycos.nl/astrobio/open-site/lufiaguy [is rather cool].shtml this page isn't finished yet and has some bugs. It's just an example.Related Category: International _________________ http://open-site.org/profiles/overgaag.html |
