What can be discussed here?
General Open Site issues, becoming an editor, submissions, and abuse can be discussed here. Posts that don't relate to Open Site should go into the off-topic discussion forum (Owl's Nest).

What can't be discussed here?
Complaints about being removed as an editor, complaints about certain editors, confidential Open Site information, http://dmoz.org/ (ODP) issues, and editing issues should not be discussed here. Editing issues should be discussed in the Open Site Editors' Forums.

Links and linking to categories.
Links can be added to your posts simply by typing them in (make sure you use http:// at the start of the URLs). An Open Site category can be linked to by typing in the category's path in this format: Games/Video_Games/Platform/ - do not surround a category path or a URL with punctuation, and don't forget to use underscores! i.e. _

Birthdays.
In your profile, you have the option of entering your birthday. When the date comes, your name will appear at the bottom of the board's front page, with your age. This feature is optional.

Private messaging.
The private messaging system allows you to send messages, which only they can see. If you are sent an abusive private message, don't delete it. Contact an administrator.

Ranks.
If you are an Open Site editor, then you can request to have your rank changed from Member, to Editor, Editall, Meta, etc. If you are an editor and you don't change your rank from Member, then you won't get access to the Editors' Lounge. To request a rank change, go to the correct thread in the Owl's Nest forum.

Who are the moderators?
Moderators are chosen by the administrators - they are not always Meta editors. They can be seen on the Forum Leaders page.

Conduct.
The success of this board relies of the input of editors. Do not forget however, that you are bound to the Open Site editing guidelines. Do not violate the confidentiality of editors, or the private editor forums. Violation of the official editing guidelines may be punished with the removal of your editing account.
