With youth news shows like Flipside and a competitive television news market in New Zealand, television has to be my favorite source of news. Youth news shows treat us like teenagers and give us news that matters to us.
The thing I find weird is New Zealand's major networks have to provide a full hour of news seven days a week to survive, with current affairs shows afterwards, whereas in other countries news bulletins are really short - sometimes even 30 minutes all up!Related Category: _________________ Poroporoaki from Mike in the Mighty Waikato
I don't really think the computer will ever be quite as popular as the TV. Computers offer comprehensive coverage of breaking news, television offers comprehensive coverage of major news, newspapers provide opinionative and in-depth coverage of interesting news and radio is most flexible in terms of breaking news witness accounts.
All news and information sources have their own strengths, but I can see TV, along with other audio-visual sources (such as streaming video and digital television), as remaining the most popular source of news. Remember, computers can be fairly unreliable (or at least I find that in New Zealand) and TV, radio and newspapers are all respectively healthier than the internet.Related Category:

Re: News: Where do you get yours?
America is one of the most intelectually deprived countries in the world. I think televsion is a large contributer to that.
The brief news blurbs you hear on TV today only give you a short summary of what is really going on. My point centers around the news about the war in Iraq. I turn on CNN and hear "14 American soldiers were killed today in a suicide bombing, along with 20 policemen." This is what people want to hear. They want to hear that people are dying for them. To protect them. They don't want to hear that the bomber's family was killed by American soldiers while trying to escape through the back door (this is a hypothetical situation by the way).
I heard an amazing analysis the other day:
A large percent of people carry around cell phones and use them ask other how they are doing, or if they had seen any good movies at the theater and stuff like that. Pretty much saying "Hey i'm here i'm here over here!" This is exactly what birds do when they chirp. Related Category: _________________ RADIX OMNIUM MALORUM CUPIDITAS EST

In New Zealand there has been many complaints that CBS, ABC and CNN content are sometimes used in our evening news hours instead of content from the BBC. CNN International Asia has very low viewer numbers because it is essentially American accents reporting on American news from an American perspective from an Asian studio.Related Category:

Ouch! I understand what you mean. Television is a biased form of media. Some people want to hear all the facts, but unfortunately TV media is influenced by government forces. Others just want it like you said, all about our side vs. you side mentality. When will people learn? I also agree TV news is not as informative as internet. I think more people will turn to the internet for news to get a more global, less biased, and more informative story. I like the bird chirping analogy, that is a good one! Related Category:

I think internet is the best place to get news: there are hundreds of sites where you can take them (instead of TV where there aren't so much channel) and the news can be more exhaustive - because there isn't a limit of time.
But... We're lazy... And we can see and hear the news from television without much fatigue.Related Category: _________________ I know, my English is very Bad Tutto gratis -Webmaster? Earn with your website
