How do you stay fit?  Reply with quote

How do you stay fit?

I'm asking this because, between study sessions and long exams, I am trying to get around a 3.6km course (a footpath around the lake I live next to) within 20 minutes most days. I had a break on Sunday to do a 6.3km fun run. It doesn't sound that long and I've run for a several times longer in the past, but I was surprised to be exhausted so quickly in the hot weather. I don't know how people run marathons in such hot weather.

I've also heard about this rather interesting bicycle race around Lake Taupo. It is the largest in the southern hemisphere and will be attracting people from around the world. It is 140km I think and I have no doubt an Aussie will win (like every major New Zealand sports tournament).

So, how do you stay fit?

Ahh ... pushing mouse and occasionally pulling it (the mouse). Adjusting contrast knob and pushing down volume icon if not too exhausted. Chewing harder than necessary on a BigMac though jaw does get exhausted. Moving keyboard to access can of Diet Coke.

On big day adjusting height of office chair but this is only if I have had a good sleep the night before - too risky otherwise!

That is the funniest thing I've heard all year. With the quality of Comedy Inc. this year I thought Australian humour had all but died.

Don't worry, Queenslanders are too interested in their Towers of Terror and long Sufers' Paridise beaches to be worried about "that dude on the discovery channel, that guy on with the short shorts" or any outback crocodile dundee.

They're stuck in their huge seaside and riverside sky scrapers, wishing Sydney, Melbourne and that yawn of a city in the middle would stop getting excited about Steve Irwin dangly his baby by a crocodile in some Queensland zoo and start noticing that Queensland is a place of residence as well as a holiday destination.

Personally I don't know how anyone could stand the Tower of Terror, but most people at school seem have done it. I'm more of a log rider who eats candy at that super-expensive shopping centre in Dreamworld and then has a picture taken with a giant Warner Brothers character at MovieWorld and doesn't get embarassed. Well, my tastes might have changed in eight years.

The most unpleasant is to do exercise just for the physical efort ;bordom comes in very quickly ,so ,go skateboardind now!

P.S. : It must be very nice to live near a lake.I'd like that ,but i also like the concrete jungle.

I agree. The most important thing of all. Very Happy

Has anyone tried a marathon before? I'd like to do a half-marathon in the next few years.

I have not participated in any marathon and the reason for that is ,I was never able to use running for staying fit ;I get tired before a significant effort .
Swimming is a much better alternative(underwater swimming) Wink

I know swimming in a pool is very good for getting fit and a sunny day at the beach is pretty fun as well. Wink
