US Election 2004: Bush or Kerry?  Reply with quote

Which candidate do you prefer for the upcoming United States Federal Election in November? It doesn't matter where in the world you live, it affects you in some way. Where do your loyalties lie?

A recent One News-Colmar Brunton Poll found 75% of New Zealanders support John Kerry, despite the fact George W. Bush is the one supporting a free trade deal between New Zealand and the United States that would provide some benefit to all New Zealanders and would improve the New Zealand economy. A similar poll found a 46% majority of New Zealanders support John Howard in the upcoming Australian Federal Election.

Political analysts and radio journalists seem to be suggesting that the views of Americans are similar to those of the New Zealanders in this poll, although Open Site World News updates are revealing a close rivalry between the two competitors.

Kerry is very scary. Bush, whether you like him or not, will be better for the country than Kerry will be. Plus, I don't like the amount of taxes I'm paying now. With Kerry, those taxes will go way up!

US Presidential candidate Kerry today spoke of the importance of stem-cell research and criticized Bush's policies on the topic. The elections are still more than four weeks away but in many states voters have already voted and requests for voter IDs has become an issue. Meanwhile Vice-President Candidates Dick Cheney and John Edwards are preparing for their debate.

Stem cell research is already legal in the U.S. And Bush signed a huge bill two years ago granting U.S. govt. funding of existing stem cell research.

The only thing Bush refuses to do is expand govt. funding of all stem cells. Private funding and research using all stem cells is already legal and happening. It has been. This is one of the inaccuracies and bogus issues that the Kerry camp has created to "discredit" Bush in the eyes of the public.

A US Vice-Presidential Candidate debate between Cheney and John Edwards is seen as equal, with the strongest points being made regarding the war on Iraq. Claims by the Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld that evidence did not suggest a link between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda hours before was used to support Edward's arguments, although Rumsfeld later said the statements were taken out of context.

It fascinates and amazes everyone in New Zealand that anyone could possibly support someone who went to war for a reason that was all a big lie. Here there is very little support for the Iraq war and the reasons for it.

What a ridiculous attempt to restrict neutrality. Which hacker has the sick and strange sense of humour to do that.

It seems strange in a nation as diverse, populous and rich as the USA it can only find these two fairly inadequate but wealthy and somewhat average men as their leaders. Imagine how powerful a force the USA could be if true leaders were ever allowed to emerge. I wonder if they ever will be allowed to by the true leaders in america - church, media, industry.
The USA should never take their eyes off China as oneday there will be some competition on the street and genuine leadership is going to be needed to maintain the power balance. Remember Rome, Greece, Great Britain, Germany, France - empires come and go. Maybe we are seeing the start of a dramatic world change. Interesting times ahead.

Remember that this is a country where the news is usually presented by old men. The newsreaders and politicians of a country are usually fairly similar.
