Virtual Pets  Reply with quote

Do you look after a virtual pet? Do you play with internet pets or do you have a Tamagotchi in your pocket? Are virtual pets here to stay, or are they just a fad?

Many many years ago I took an interest in virtual pets by buying a Tamagotchi. I remember it being fun initially, but it began to become boring as the new technology became more familiar.

However, virtual pets are thriving on the internet. Neopets.com has a very large number of members. Shocked

I remember virtual pets being popular back in 1997 at my school. Didn't last long as the teacher kept confiscating them and they'd die.

There was a fun little PC program called Petz many years ago, that let you choose a pet from the "adoption center" and play with it. Unfortunately it crashes badly on the latest versions of Windows so I can't play with it anymore.

Confused

I believe that online pets are just a fad. Back in Middle School, there was always ONE fad that everyone was into. First it was...who knows? Then it was nationstates.net, then neopets, then addictinggames.com, etc...
Then again, our world is becoming more technolocically depedant, relying on machines more and more. And yes, in 20 years peoples' a**es will have evolved flat from sitting in front of computers too much.
It seems that adolescents have to have a thing to be into. In the card world, Pokemon have long since died out. Isn't the human psyche such wonderful thing?
I submit my point: The future of Virtual Pets is uncertain.

Hmm... unfortunately, I cannot see many children being especially interested in education and HTML. Great idea, though.

Don't buy anything from myvirtualpetsite.com They are a rip off and a scam. Myself and many others have paid via paypal for their software and have never recieved it. I even contacted paypal about it but was unable to get my money back. They're very great at what they do... they've pulled the wool over my eyes and over those of others. Someone should shut them down.

Do you see the connection between virtual pets and primitive a.i. units ? That's the use I see for them(and fun if confiscated and die Laughing )

Silly question, but have you tried contacting myvirtualpetsite.com about it? cuz I don't think they will intentionally not send you the package after you paid them because they're doing business here...and of course they want their users to spread a good word about them and not a bad one.

Just my two cents Wink
