Web-based Email  Reply with quote

Hotmail just went down after several days of very serious loading difficulties, images not loading, etc. Furthermore, with the arrival of Gmail, I was wondering...
What web-based email provider do you use and why?

I like Hotmail for its various features, including the local New Zealand interface, the virus protection and the spam filter. If you don't need much storage space in your email account and you don't like emails to stick around forever, then Hotmail is probably more for you. I personally believe it is better than Yahoo! because it considers me a kiwi, not an aussie. Wink

But that isn't to say it's perfect. Most of you probably like large amounts of storage space and a web-based provider to do everything for you. Maybe then Gmail might be more your thing.

I use the e-mail facilities of my web site for Robots. A lot of places won't accept a yahoo or hotmail account, but they're still good e-mail services.

Thanks. Very Happy

I used to use Yahoo!, but they considered Australia and New Zealand as being the same country. Tried Lycos but left in a boycott as a result of the unspeakable drop in their moral standards. I only use Tripod now because other free webspace providers don't actually work.

I have accounts with Yahoo and Hotmail. Both have very good virus filters and ways to block or filter spam.

I don't actually use web-based e-mail. I'm quite happy with Outlook Express, although two of my three e-mail addresses are starting to receive a lot of spam... Rolling Eyes

No doubt Microsoft will try to gear their email software up to promote Hotmail's Pop3 service and make Hotmail easier and more compatiable on Outlook software than Gmail Pop3 accounts. It would make commercial sense.
